My Studio
My Studio has come along way baby!
It is hard to believe that it took me over a year to re-do my studio. I’m a creative so that being said I needed a space to call my own–yeah the dining room table was not working out any longer. I needed a space where I could make a mess and not clean up my project right away….lets face it I sometimes need to work on a project more then a day–and I really don’t want to put everything away just to get it out again the next day. Okay, Okay I will be the first one to admit that I can be lazy 🙂
My furniture is all recycled from old dressers. My dear friend Dee helped me build the big desk/table out of an old dresser, a wood pallet, and a piece of plexiglass cut to my dimensions. OHHHH did I say I LOVE IT!!
Dee’s idea was so great!! She is a mastermind at these things. It really gives me the workspace that I needed to spread out on. The wood pallet was Dee’s idea–she is a clever one–because it provides a space for all my paper supplies. Yes I hoard decorative paper–which I use to make my handmade planner tabbed dividers. Shameless plug for my Etsy Shop–check out my lovely planner dividers and other items. Okay let me get back on track– My husband Craig cut the pallet down just a little bit for me. (me and power saws really don’t have a great relationship LOL) plus I really like having my arms and fingers.
Like I said we used what we had already. I love using up items that I already have and recycling them in a different way. I had some dressers that I got from goodwill and yard sales. The only piece that I had to buy was the plexiglass from Lowe’s. I also bought some white paint too.
The room was starting to come together nicely. It took several weeks to finish painting between running my Etsy Shop and running kids around. But I am very happy with how it turned out. All in all I spent about $75 dollars –paint, old furniture, and plexiglass. I certainly can not complain about the price!
It takes some patience, sweat, some thought about how you are going to layout a small narrow room and just good old-fashion muscle. Anyone can do this!! Here are some finished pictures how it is set up and my studio is in working order.
When I get around to tidy up I will post “instagram” worthy pictures as my kids say. At the moment I am a happy camper and love my studio!! It brings me joy and happiness…oh and my cats love spending time in the studio too. Roscoe especially loves being in the studio.
